What is a Load Link? 

A Load Link, also known as a Load Cell and dynamometer, monitors the tension between two objects and is designed primarily for under-hook crane weighing and load testing applications. At Strainstall, we provide cabled and wireless Load Links with outputs up to 500 tonnes as standard (larger capacities are available as a bespoke option) and are available with the award-winning SmartLoad® technology. 

Why are Load Links used?

Load Links accurately monitor loads when conducting lifting and weighing applications. They measure the strain between two objects, helping to identify and monitor dynamic loads, as well as verify the weight of test weights or load testing applications.   

Load Links offer a superior accuracy over Load Monitoring Shackles, and are an industry standard tool for determining the load. Load Links are designed to work with standard lifting shackles and can therefore be easily rigged into virtually any lifting arrangement.

At Strainstall, we design and manufacture lightweight cabled and wireless Load Links purposefully engineered for improved safety, accuracy and ease of Load Monitoring and Tensioning operations.

Smartload Technology  

At Strainstall, we prioritise safety, precision and accuracy during Load Monitoring operations. Our Wireless Load Links are integrated with Smartload technology, an award-winning Load Monitoring solution developed by our engineering team. To enable ease of display, our solution also comprises of Smartload Displays.  

SmartLoad®displays can connect and display up to four Load Links (or Shackles) simultaneously and automatically calculate the average and total loads, which are also displayed on the screen.  Load Cells integrated with SmartLoad® technology are also fully compatible with our Centre of Gravity Software (COG) which, when paired with multiple Load Links, allows an easy method to determine the distribution of load and COG point in complex or dynamic lifts.

Strainstall’s SmartLoad® technology also offers a unique method for data-logging. Unlike other systems, data is stored directly on the Load Link which can then be downloaded after the operation. This therefore reduces the need to have a PC on-site, as well as eliminating the risk of data loss due to transmission issues.
